American Proposes Restorative Justice as a Response to Hate Speech |TODAY|

I believe all of these people should be expected to make amends for their wrong doings. I fully believe in the process of restorative justice which is part of Gandhi’s belief in Satyagraha.

Anti-gay activists use the tactic of enemy images to paint a picture of gays that scares people. Any piece of news where the criminal happens to be gay will be used as the imagery that alls gays are bad. The tactic is clearly hate speech and widely used by anti-gay organizations, bloggers and many religious groups. When used collectively, this tactic can be very effective at creating a fear of gay people. Since the view tends to be “only” negative images that create “threats” to safety, children, marriage, etc…

In today’s news, I caught a number of stories that made my brain and my heart just hurt, but I wouldn’t call the criminals in the stories “heterosexual” predators, or “religious” child abusers, but I could. I don’t because I believe these are good people that have done bad thing to meet their needs.
