The Government will use community service to restore law and order in northern Uganda, internal affairs minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda said yesterday.
Rugunda said: "Because of the breakdown of the law in northern Uganda, some criminals may take advantage of the situation. Community service will, therefore, be an important weapon in the rehabilitation of the region. I expect that this will not only reduce criminality, but also empower communities to get rid of petty criminals as well as help in decongesting prisons." |
