Questions
If a victim has suffered a financial loss the court will order restitution to be paid. The court also will order probation service fees on an ability to pay basis. For February 2007, victim restitution of $44,839 was collected from juvenile and adult offenders. Since July 2006, $205,387 has been collected. Probation service fees help cover costs for pre-sentence court investigations, offender supervision, work program user fees and juvenile hall expenses. For February, these totaled $41,587.

Victim restoration and offender accountability are primary points within the mission of the Yolo County Probation Department. After being convicted for a crime, the court may place an offender on probation, with the probation officer being responsible for enforcing and monitoring compliance with conditions of the probation grant. Terms of probation may include county jail time, drug testing, offender registration, counseling/treatment, fines, and other terms that fit the individual case... .

In these matters, probation officers are responsible for enforcing all court-ordered victim restitution orders while Yolo County Collection Services receives and disburses a majority of those funds. In the instance of welfare fraud the Yolo County Department of Employment and Social Services receives and disburses funds and in the instance of check fraud the District Attorney's office receives and disburses funds.

Should an offender fail to pay, state tax refunds may be intercepted or wages garnished.
